22 Months

Yes, I am now up to paddling in 22 straight months. With temperatures predicted to be in the upper 30's on January 11th, Pat, Chuck, and I decided to go out on the water. Our usual launch site on the causeway to LaFramboise Island was iced in so we had to go over to the Fort Pierre boat ramp to find open water. When we arrived we had to chuckle. There was a boat on the trailer just being pulled out of the water by some brave fishermen. The amusing part was that because of the ice they had to use a tow rope to hook a second pickup to the one trying to pull the boat and trailer up the ice covered ramp. They thought we were crazy for going out, but I reminded them that we would be able to launch and land unassisted. With the weatherman missing the forecast and it hovering at only about 30 we only spent about an hour on the water, traveling up stream under the highway and railroad bridges, continuing upstream a little further and returning. Now, to watch the forecast in February to try to keep the streak going.
